Bay Islands Conservation Association
The Bay Islands Conservation Association (BICA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1991 by the people living in the Bay Islands in order to initiate and coordinate efforts in protecting the islands fragile natural resources. BICA'S operations and projects are funded through the support of local individuals, businesses and national and international agencies.
BICA'S general goals are to:
1-Protect and promote the sustainable use of the Bay Islands fragile ecosystems.
2-Promote the sustainable development of the Bay Islands natural resources.
3-Create awareness of the importance of environmental resources of the Bay Islands through individual and community participation and education.
4-Conserve and restore the islands habitat and rare species on the verge of extinction.
