The Roatan Electronic Experience Festival (REEF) is Roatan's first electronic music festival to be held annually in the breath taking location of Big French Key, Private Island & Beach Club, Roatan. You will experience nonstop techno and house music from sunset to sunrise, delivered by a diverse assortment of regional Djs and some of the most elite international guest Djs this genre has to offer.
This third time around, the 2017th REEF Festival is sponsored by the German Embassy in Honduras with a lineup that will be headlined by two seasoned Djs from Germany and The Netherlands. No doubt, you should expect powerful dance sets synced to a myriad of audiovisuals assaulting the senses, including video mapping, lights, lasers, and all that is necessary to set the foundation for a premiere electronic musical experience.
Located in a venue surrounded by the Mesoamerican Reef and with the REEF acronym part of its title, the event organizers hope to capitalize on the music and imagery to generate awareness amongst today's youth about the importance of environmental protection. Each year several messages with phrases like "Save The Reef" were displayed on the big screens with new messages scheduled to be delivered to the fired up crowds during the new event. One of the organizers' goals is for the event to showcase conservation best practices, with last year's show, implementing several measures that minimized the festival's impact on the environment such as the use of carton cups instead of plastic cups to serve drinks, car/bus pooling services were made available from West End for USD $5.00 / HNL 100.00 in order to reduce Co2 emissions, and at the end of the event, the garbage was collected and classified for recycling. Separate garbage bins will be strategically located with their corresponding signs so the festival goers can separate the garbage themselves.
